Overview

The Ontario Health Care Reporting Standards (OHRS) establishes the framework that defines the healthcare standard for collecting financial and statistical data.

Management Information System (MIS) is a full financial and statistical management hosted software solution, allowing HSP organizations to automate the data mapping from their internal chart of accounts to the OHRS accounts for reporting to the Ministry.

Human Resource Information System (HRIS) is designed to enable HSP organizations to align with OHRS and provide information on payroll, HR , staff scheduling, and easier access to organizational data for reporting purposes.

OHRS (Ontario Health Care Reporting Standards)

What is the OHRS?

The OHRS establishes the framework that defines the healthcare standard for collecting financial and statistical data.

Health Service Providers (HSPs) funded by the Ministry and LHINs are required to submit their financial and statistical data in the format prescribed by the OHRS which are published by the Health Data Branch and regularly updated. This data is stored in the Ontario Healthcare Financial and Statistical (OHFS) database and assists the LHINs, MOHLTC and HSP in the allocation of financial resources. The rules for reporting are not related to the rules for funding but reporting from HSPs assist with funding decisions.

Benefits of OHRS

The OHRS supports the comparison of similar elements of inputs and outputs between different organizations, by capturing both finances and statistics. For example, how many hours were worked by front line and support staff and how many clients served. The OHRS provides information to understand the relationship between the mechanics of health service delivery, the utilization of resources and the effectiveness of treatment options. The financial and statistical data defined by the OHRS enables information analysis which helps ensure optimal use of health care dollars.
